garden stories
real action from the school playground...
“watering is relaxing”
“Beata, filling a watering can with a spray gun is very relaxing” - Sam (5) while watering plants at playground.
“125 potatoes”
Eco Club (7-11) dug up potatoes - children expected to get around 30 from 3 mother potatoes:
“1, 2, 3, 4… 20min later …120, 121, 122, 123, 124, 125. We dug up 125! and very tasty, too - all were divided between the digging team and taken home to share with families.
“Grandad and iPad”
Lexie (6) could not wait to share the news about planting a tomato seed in the paper pot via video call with her grandad: “Grandad, grandad, we have a tomato growing, it is an Ailsa Craig! What type are you growing?”
“6 watering cans”
Having planted 6 huge tubs for each year group they have to be looked after. Every morning before lessons start there is a queue of children keen to help with watering. There is so much interest that our wild garden, greenhouse and funky wheelbarrow get watered, too!
