Makedo - Battersea Arts Centre

Workshops to make houses or other objects out of cardboard packing   Hugely popular with children – who do the work and then re-home themselves! – and their parents – who can re-use empty cardboard packaging.   A good example of getting the best out of materials before they really do need to be re-cycled

Pollinator Paths

Working with community groups including the elderly we planted re-used window boxes and old crates to create corridors for bees, butterflies, beetles and other pollinators to thrive.  A good example of something to do with old materials in giving the environment a little help.

Beautify Balham

Established by Jean Millar and enthusiastically supported by local residents, schools, businesses and Wandsworth, Beautify Balham encourages everyone to be responsible for their shared outdoor environment through tree planting, gardening and litter picking - all to make Balham more beautiful! At the 2021 Balham in Bloom Festival of locally grown flowers, we helped set up the Festival and ran a stall leading free seed planting workshops for the local community.  The afternoon ended with the Mayor awarding prizes for residential and communal gardens.
